Capital:
Wellington. Situated in the massive natural harbour, this city is the capital of Aotearoa, and the main commerce and government hub.

Government:
Feudal Dictatorship. The lands are split into Duchies, all reporting to the current Lord, who directly controls the Duchy of Wellington.

A Duchy is an area of Glorious Aotearoa set a fixed value, so dukes with smaller islands will simply control more, while Aotearoa proper will be split into multiple duchies. Each Duchy has several Earldoms, allowing for lower level management and government. Under Earldoms are Baronies, for low level administrative government. People have democratic election for Baronies, however, rise through control of the Earldoms, and Duchies up the the Lordship is based on merit only.

Glorious Aotearoa has closed our EEZ (The EEZ extends to a distance of 200 nautical miles (370 km) out from any Aotearoan coast, or as far as needed if the continuation will only pass through empty ocean until it reaches another part of the Aotearoan EEZ.) to non allied military vessels, sub surface vessels and aircraft, with people attempting to cross it warned, then fired upon. Allied vessels and civilian vessels flyng flags of nations we are not at war with can cross at any time. Note, that Geosynchronous orbits placed over our territory are also not allowed.

Our territorial waters (<24 Nauctical miles from the coast) are closed to all vessels.

Glorious Aotearoa's latest census places it at 45.23 million.

The population primarily reside in Aotearoa, although every island is inhabited. The main cities of Wellington, Christchurch and Auckland have around ten million people each, with the remaining fifteen million spread out, but around 45% of them live in aotearoa as well as the hawaiian islands.

Construction methods.

Cities are present on every island, with the largest ones being Wellington, Auckland and Christchurch.

The cities are built from identical towers, each 100 stories tall, with the bottom 25 floors containing the heavy machinery of the city, and forming the industrial sector. These floors had special, super strong walls, not just cladding draped over a skeleton, like most skyscrapers. These walls were made to stop industrial explosions with little to no damage, and had specialized disaster management and containment systems built in. There was only one entrance, and that was a large cargo door, nearly 30 inches of reinforced steel, able to be locked and sealed.

The next 30 floors would be commercial areas, and would be made to deal with large volumes of people. Malls, schools, hospitals and other various businesses and recreational areas. These floors held pretty much all non residential / industrial aspects of the city.

The top 45 floors would be residential units, ranging from single person studios, to family apartments. Some apartments were two stories, so to make more space.

There were also several other features present in these buildings. Before they were built, nuclear power plants were constructed underground, to power the cities, and large utility networks were in place, including a 100 Gbit internet network, with government firewalls and anti virus centers, as to take the responsibility off the people.

More innovation, such as giant ultra thin LCD screens and DSSCs covered the entire buildings allowing extra power generation, and slight optical camouflage of the the buildings above the 25th story, so that people in the building look out on what the view would be like with no other buildings in the way.

High speed, free public monorail networks connected every building, with three layers, 25th, 55th and 100th floor layers, representing the main sector divisional points. Also, a high speed maglev train was constructed between the cities, with stops at each of the satellite towns.

High speed express elevators stopped at ground, 25th, 55th and 100th floors, while intermediate elevators helped access floors between those.

*Classified*

As private actions, each building was sealed in a faraday cage, allowing no transmissions in or out. Cell phones still worked, as a antenna was present in each building, and the transmission was taken by shielded hard line outside or to another cell area. All connections at the edge of the cage had physical disconnects, using fiber optic cable instead.

All cabling used out side a faraday cage had a brass mesh incorporated into its insulation, allowing for faster data transmission, and EMP security.

Other measures were built in too. Giant air and water processors were built in subterranean vaults, and pressure doors and windows placed in the buildings. With very little reason to go outside anyway, it was the logical step to have a system to seal the buildings against NBC threats. Civil defense bunkers beneath each tower held massive amounts of food, enough for one month worth of providing for the residents in the building above.

Factbook of Glorious Aotearoa Empty
PostSubject: Re: Factbook of Glorious Aotearoa   Factbook of Glorious Aotearoa I_icon_minitimeFri Jan 15, 2010 4:26 am

Army.

The Aotearoan Army is a light infantry force which is mostly operated in a "ship to shore" method, deploying navally as a preference. The mainstay of the army is mechanized light infantry where rapid movement is more useful than raw power. The limited scope for ground battles on most of Aotearoan territory means that heavy ground units, such as tank formations are often unable to be deployed to their full extent. Taking these two ideals to heart the army is based on the soldier, and the armoured components are meant to be supportive.

Supporting the military is the BattleNet. A multi redundant information system, it allows rapid and widespread data movement among units. This is done with several components.

  • Target recognition software and cameras inside soldiers helmets. This highlights the enemy on their HUD, allowing quicker reaction to threats, and also sends back notification of this target to BattleNet.
  • GPS positioners in helmets with inertial directional adjustment, for determining locations down to half a meter of accuracy. This is used to fix positions of soldiers and hostiles on a TheatreMap by GPS co-ordinates by BattleNet
  • Chain based target awareness. BattleNet sends targets/hostile information to all those in the vicinity , and the person in immediate ccommand of them. For example, a sergeant would know the positions of any hostiles visible to any of his squad, and so would each member of the squad. A Regimental commander would be able to see the areas where hostiles are that have been seen by any of the 1,000 troops under his command.
  • Integrated remote targeting. Data gathered by drones, soldiers or other systems can be used to target attacks by naval support / artillery / air support or ground support elements.

With this, an almost godlike view of the battlefield emerges, allowing each trooper to know of and participate in strategic or tactical maneuvers.

Terms.
Squad. 10 men, sergeant, corporal, sharpshooter x2, support gunner x2, rifleman x4.
Company. 10 Squads. 100 men
Battalion . 10 Companies. 1,000 men
Division. 10 Battalions. 10,000 men.

At the divisional level, several extra contingents are present in deployments. There is a 100 man M.A.S.H. unit . A 50 gun battery consisting of 155mm self propelled guns with a variety of shells, including airburst, frag, HE, penetrators, mine shells and others (divisional batteries of airborne and air-ferried units are often combined into specialist artillery brigades). A 200 man engineer company, with high explosives and battle field sapping equipment as well as mines, razor wire and other materials.

The Aotearoan Army divisions are grouped into five categories.

Airborne: Light infantry, often airdropped into combat, where they will engage the enemy until ground forces have advanced and linked up with them. The most mobile and rapid response force of the Aotearoan Army.

Air-ferried: Deployed from transport helicopters and VTOLs. Light infantry, but with large amounts of close air support available from attack helicopters within their divisions. A highly mobile force, they are often aerially redeployed leaving slower enemies stuck with ground transport.

Armour: Tank divisions, featuring a combination of the T-501 and T-601, however the precise ratio varies from division to division. Often transported by RORO ships however the T-601 can be moved by heavy airlift.

Mechanized: Heavy infantry, deployed in USC APCs they can keep pace with Armour divisions and are usually among the first infantry to link up with Airborne or Air-ferried divisions.

Motorised. Foot infantry with transport trucks.

Current Strength.

Armour
1250 active T-501 AMBT, 1750 reserve.
1250 active T-601 LTT, 1750 reserve.

Infantry
2 Airborne Divisions Active, 3 reserve
2 Air-ferried Divisions Active, 3 reserve
4 Mechanised Divisions Active, 6 reserve
8 Motorised Divisions Active, 12 reserve

Enough USC APCs for roughly 10 mechanised divisions along with enough armoured trucks for 20 motorised divisions.(OOC: Its the RG-33L)

The RX-377.

  • Weight: ~5kg
  • Calibre: 8mm Tungsten rounds with DU AP tips.
  • Sliding stock
  • Combat sight

The is the first use of the metal-storm in a infantry weapon used by our forces. The concept of stacked caseless rounds fired with an electrical pulse allows for a much higher rate of fire to the point where three bullets can be moving down the barrel simultaneously. Another interesting advantage of this system is that the gun's mechanisms are silent, increasing the noise reduction factor of a suppressor.

The magazine takes 20 stacks of three bullets for a total of 60 shots per clip and each stack is magnetically drawn up from the magazine, reducing the number of moving parts.

The weapon fires 8mm depleted uranium tipped tungsten rounds in single, triple shot burst and full-auto firing modes, with recoil dampeners to keep the powerful kick of the large bullets in check. Each shot travels at close to Mach 2 and can put a three round burst into a DVD case at half a kilometre.

Standard to the weapon is also the integrated 45mm RPG launcher. This fires a small guided missile from the lower barrel, with the intention of giving each soldier an effective anti-armour capability. The missiles are loaded one at a time into the small hatch behind the foregrip and fired with the secondary trigger with an effective level-flight range of about 250m.

The standard sight for the weapon is a smart reflex sight which can perform as either a rapid acquisition sight or apply digital magnification up to 10x zoom. An UV laser mounted on the front of the weapon is detected and rendered by the scope allowing the soldier to see the beam through the scope while keeping enemies oblivious to the shooter's location.

The weapon's construction is a tough yet lightweight nano-engineered composite and the entire assembly including the launcher weighs just under 5kg with empty magazine and launch tube.

Armour.

Factbook of Glorious Aotearoa Denny%20bloodhound%202
T-501 AMBT. Armoured Main Battle Tank. Main Heavy Tank.

  • Twin 125mm smooth-bore autoloading ETC cannons with high rates of fire (twenty rounds / min). Can be fired simultaneously or sequentially. The guns elevate together, however each has several degrees of independant lateral transverse, allowing both guns to fire at the same target.
  • The turret is remotely controlled, and so is sealed off from the crew compartment in the hull, and is fixed to the hull for more securely than it could be otherwise, allowing more force transmission from the recoil mechanisms of the twin cannons.
  • Two 15mm machine guns, 75mm internal mortar.
  • Explosive Reactive Armour Scales placed on spaced armour covering Non Explosive Reactive Armour blocks over top of a composite armoured hull. The Composite armour hull is made of Tungsten carbide disks layered in an overlapping scale pattern suspended in a ceramic / titanium compound. Gives excellent defense against shaped charges and KE weapons.

General Naval technology

Stealth Technology. Aotearoan ships have titanium hulls with a RF absorbant mesh overtop and radar absorbing paint. Underneath this outer layer, an aerogel layer absorbs heat transmissions. Additionally the main hull is shaped to reduce the radar profile even without the RAM. Sound absorbing tiles below the waterline and quiet, non captivating propellers reduce the passive sonar signals.

Radar. All Aotearoan ships have high powered radars with phased ability and Em steering. They are able to focus their beams to emit 4MW of power along a 0.5 degree angle. This beam is powerful enough to fry electronics at short ranges (<600m), and 'burn through' radar stealth technologies at much longer ranges(~100-200km) with long range (800km) ability against unstealthy targets.

EMP Proofing. The radar absorbent mesh is coupled with capacitors and inductors to absorb any EMP attack, and stop the flux from inducing damaging currents in electrical components inside the ship. Physical disconnects prevent exposed electrical antenna forming loopholes in this defense.

Active defense. Each ship has four highly accurate Hybrid electrothermal light gas guns with 180 degree arcs of fire. They have a rate of fire of 360 rounds a minute, firing 37mm DU penetrator shells at nearly 5,000m/s. They have a 90% hit rate on a 30cm diameter target at 500m, dropping to 85% at 2000m, and finally, only 35% at max range, 16000m (Horizon, longer ranges may be obtained if the target is above the horizon). This is used to achieve KE kills on incoming missiles. With the projectile weighing nearly 1000g, a single hit, glancing or otherwise will destroy almost any missile. They work autonomously like other CWIS systems but are slaved to BattleNet, but with their higher rate of fire and much longer ranges their percentage kills is correspondingly much higher. At short range (<600m) the radar system can be used to 'zorch' missiles, effectively using a EMP pulse on them, shorting the electronics, and causing it to lose control and miss. Also present are longer range interceptor missiles with five phase tracking and are slaved by data link to the ships computers to increase precision and kill rate. Finally, there are the Pulse Fired Energy Weapons (PFEW). A set of four megawatt class lasers mounted on all Aotearoan naval ships, they are used to destroy inbound threats. They work by firing more intense bursts of energy than normal interception lasers. They overcome thermal blooming by alternating the turret the pulse is fired from. This allows them to actually burn through the missile skin, and ignite either the fuel or warhead, not just weaken the skin so it fails due to flight stress, like other kinds of laser defense that exists.

General Air force technology

Bodytech. The bodies of Aotearoan aircraft are made from carbon nanotube fibers woven and glued together to make a radar transparent body with extreme strength. Behind the outer shell is a layer of aerogel, effectively stopping all IR signals from inside the plane. Metal components inside the body are shrouded in a radar absorbing mesh, which converts it to electrical power.

Engines. The planes (apart from the Titans Fist) all use high power jet engines each producing 200KN of thrust with shrouded outputs and heat sinks, making a IR lock on from any angle but directly behind hard to impossible.

BattleNet. All planes are fully integrated into BattleNet, and slaved to its subroutines, allowing BattleNet to control the craft to avoid missiles the pilot was not aware of (detected by some other plane / sensor) or to maneuver the plane in ways the pilot cannot accurately perform (J-turn, Cobra Stall) under high stress.

Standard weapon technologies

LRAA Missile: (Base RL weapon) A long range air to air missile with five phase tracking and targeting abilities. It is designed as a missile for the modern air-force, using active radar, passive radar seeking, electro optical and infrared heat seeking sensors (all of which use focal plane technology to render flares, chaff and other passive counter measures almost useless) to find and track targets and automatic volumetric re-locking technology searches for targets in a certain volume with the same kind of characteristics as the origional target if lock is lost. As a long range super sonic missile, this mach six rocket propelled weapon has a max range nearing 450km, with a 50kg fragmentation warhead it has proven to be deadly to airborne forces. Its warhead is also equipped with a directional shear mode, selected at launch, where the fragmentation blast is sent in a focused line of molten shrapnel, a technique used for 'cutting' parts of enemy planes off. Most effective against sub sonic targets, this allows the small missile to cripple/destroy larger planes without requiring a larger warhead.

LRGTA Missile: Same as the LRAA missile, however, this is the SAM carried by all units, differing only in the launch mechanism to the LRAA missile, and an extended round out to 600km using a larger fuel section.

SRMM(Short Range Mini Missile). A weapon designed for short range dogfights, where large numbers of weapons would be needed to maintain armament in the convoluted mix of planes. This is a missile with a max range of 20km, and a highly agile vectored thrust rocket powering it to mach 5+ speeds. It carries a 10kg explosive warhead used to propel a set of 6 0.45 m tungsten rods into the target aircraft. These rods have low tech proximity fuses so that when they are 0.75m from a solid object, a set of cutting bars snap out, giving it the appearance, of a X where each arm is 0.1m long with a 0.45m rod projecting at right angles to the arms of the X. This is done to maximize the damage each rod inflicts, as in such a close quarters environment each hit will need to take out an enemy. The missile itself uses the tried and tested five phase tracking and targeting abilities from the LRAAM, although with a weaker sensor unit given the shorter range, and a higher processor speed so that the missile can keep up with the high speed battles it is used in. The small size of this missile allows it to be carried is much larger numbers than the LRAAM, and so is placed in missile pods, where a compressed air ejection system allows the missile to move a safe distance from the launching plane before igniting the rocket motor instead of the gravity deployed system most missiles use.

Tank Rounds: Standard HEAT and Kinetic Energy Penetrators are carried on all tanks, with incendiary and anti personnel rounds carried as well.

Shorter range anti ship / cruise missile, with a max range of 600km based off these weapons, with extended range and five phase tracking and targeting abilities like the LRAA missile.

SRTBM. Short Range Theatre Ballistic Missile. Range, 3000km. Carried on submarines and supercruisers. This weapon has a KE warhead, 800kg of DU in a penetrative cone arrangement. This is meant for long range guided demolition of high value targets.

ICBM. InterContinental Ballistic Missile. The standard mode of nuclear weapon delivery. This missile incorporates anti laser defenses, route changing technology, and other anti SDI defenses.

Earthquake bomb MK I. (based off MOP). A guided weapon for attacking hardened targets, this is a hard case penetrator with large explosive load for through and through subsidence destruction of soft targets, and through and detonation destruction of hard targets. With weight of 14,874kg of which 3,271kg is high explosive, this weapon records substantial penetration of all targets, aided by a terminal rocket booster, raising impact speed to nearly 600m/s aiding it in its penetration. It is guided by RADAR, and terrain mapping feature recognition laser sensors.
Penetration:
80 m of 35 MPa (5,000 psi) reinforced concrete
13 m of 69 MPa (10,000 psi) reinforced concrete
52 m of moderately hard rock

{More may come}

Novel Weapons Technologies.

Kinetic Kill Missiles Generation II (KKM Gen II). This is a 300kg 'arrow' 10cm wide and 2.01m long with the entire body and fins made from Depleted Uranium. They are fin stabilised with a small guidance package that uses the same five phase tracking and targeting abilities as the LRAA to control flight surfaces on the fins from the guidance packages position in the center of the arrow, protecting it from being damaged by explosions. They are launched in a ballistic arc by a large rocket motor on the rear end which is only active for a short boost phase. Active defense measures can damage or weaken the rocket motor or fuel tanks to the point of destruction, but as they were never being used, the 'arrow' will still hit the intended target with amazing force due to the type of flight path and guidance package. At the calculated impact speed of mach 4.5, it will have 330MJ KE, about 6-12 times as much kinetic energy as the modern 32-64MJ railguns. With a range of 1000km, they are some of the deadliest weapons on the sea today.

Rocket Propelled Thermobaric Grenades (RPTG). An adaptation of the RPG-7 to have a longer range (10km), and fire a thermobaric warhead with a blast radius of around 4m, and enough force to destroy a house, truck, light armoured vehicle, although proper anti armour weapons should be used against tanks.. One launcher and five rounds are carried with every squad.

Railguns. The advanced railguns used by the supercruisers are 122.5MJ 90% efficient power efficient cryogenically cooled superconducting weapons with reinforced rails. This allows almost 2000 shots per rail set before replacement is needed. They have a range of 1250km, and a CAP of 0.01m/km range, due to the GPS / inertial guidance and fin system built into the saboted projectiles.

UnManned Attack Vehicle (UMAV). This is a stealth drone with high precision cameras, burst transmission data links and a extremely precise .50 rifle. It has a ceiling of 100,000 feet, and is used for sniper support, targeting relay, or reconnoissance.

Rocket Slug Thrower. This weapon fires 15mm x 55mm DU slugs. These are rocket propelled and spin stabilised. The weapon was adapted from a heavy machine gun, but removal and addition of several components have left a very different feel to the weapon. It can be thought of in the most base terms as a tube, with a hole on one side big enough for the round to enter. This hole is about 1/5th the way down the tube. When a slug enters the tube, electrodes electronically ignite the gunpowder boosted rocket motor, propelling it down the barrel, so that by the time it exits, it is traveling about 960m/s. The exhaust gasses are mostly vented out the back end, and some are diffused out the top of the weapon although, not in quantities to obscure vision or cause burns, reducing muzzle rise. This give it the effect of almost zero recoil, and allows firing from prone, shoulder or hip. However, the slug continues accelerating after leaving the barrel, until it runs out of fuel at about 100m where it is traveling nearly 2500m/s. It is fed by a 90 round box or 20 round rifle magazine. it has rates of fire of about 120-180 rounds a minute. However, due to the heat of the exhaust, and its contribution on barrel warping, we have restricted this weapon to three round burst and semi automatic fire. It weighs 9.04kg plus ammunition. It has an effective range of 800m, and a 3-4x optical sight as well as iron sights. A folding bipod is also included. Due to the weight and size of the rocket slug, it has about 3.5x the muzzle energy of the nearest comparable weapon, a .50 BMG round. These (the .5-BMG) can cause trauma in even the most heavily armoured infantry. However, due to the rocket motor, the rocket slug does not slow down over the flight, so hits battlesuited infantry with over 12-18x the energy of a .50BMG at long ranges. Penetration exceeds 20mm of steel armour at a 30degree impact angle. It is expected penetration could increase to over 60mm at a 90 degree impact angle.

EFP Armour Destruction systems. A series of Explosively Formed Penetrator weapons designed for an anti Armour Role.

Automated defense Gun system.
Factbook of Glorious Aotearoa Emplacement_Gun_by_kehlan

This is tripod mounted fully automatic computer controlled 13mm machine gun. It is designed as a area denial weapon, for anti infantry use. Its small profile allow it to be hidden easily, while belt feed and twin barrels (for 13mm rounds and 20mm airburst) allow excellent infantry suppression. It uses passive binocular infrared along with optical sensors to calculate human shapes, in the appropriate arc of fire, and then the computer aims and fires the weapon. The 13mm round provides abilities against even light vehicles, while infantry stand no chance. The 20mm airburst rounds are designed to attack infantry hiding in cover. With an effective range of 500m, this weapon provides much of the light fixed defense abilities of Aotearoa.

Combat robots.
Glorious Aotearoa has a urban combat optimized combat robot, designed for survivability and intense fighting.
Factbook of Glorious Aotearoa Military-robot-1-87062
Factbook of Glorious Aotearoa Military-robot-2
(Robot under the armour)
These tracked units have a operating life of 6 hours, and the batteries are able to be changed in 5 minutes. They each carries a 15mm rocket slug thrower or other weaponry including flame throwers, rocket launchers, RC relay stations or grenade launchers. They are armoured with layers of ceramic plates in kevlar pockets and hardened steel drape points which are behind the edges in the armour. The armour is totally separate from the robot, leading to the inevitable 'dressing the robot' stage during preparation. They are controlled via computer, with a setup remarkably like a FPS game. Each robot, in addition to the weapons and armour has IR, thermal, and motion sensitive cameras located behind bullet proof glass. The entire system is about the size of a large dog when combat ready, and almost impervious to small arms fire of any kind.

A Land Use Enhancement Program. This shall work to expand our useable land, and increase the number of people able to be sustained on each sector of land. We expect that number to more than double. This shall be accomplished by a series of highly efficient farms, mostly working for high production, and sustainability.

Strategic Information and Action Core. A two sided coin, of high powered intelligence gathering, and paramilitary action. With access to satellite, ELINT, HUMINT, SIGNT, SOSUS and more, this group is set up to find and analyze almost anything, although the specialize in naval location due to its strategic value to this country. Once the intelligence is gathered, it is passed to the appropriate sector of the military or the highly elite paramilitary unit it controls. These men excel in infiltration, sabotage and irregular warfare, along with non contact insertion, mission objective and extraction.

A National Aid Centre. This shall work to allocate funds and efforts for when a natural disaster occurs. These can range from drought through locusts to earthquakes, and storms.

Foreign Airforce Base. We are looking at several sites near our Waveskipper airports to ensure Aotearoa can protect our allies and large investments in these areas, from rogue nations or civil strife. This force would also be used to help move any of our citizens that might be near there (most likely with the investment into the area we will make) leave in the event of warfare, or other dangers to them.

The statue to the Lord. This is a statue to commemorate the reclamation of New Zealand by the first Lord of Aotearoa, LeVentNoir.

Center for promotion of Physical Science. This center is for the promotion of physical science, towards rendering the outdated religious myths wrong through empirical data. so far great success has been had with recent census data placing atheism at a 96.2% majority.

University of Aotearoa . This shall comprise the integration of the leading 5 universities in Wellington, and their Satellite town campuses. Together with the other two universities in Aotearoa, high level tertiary education shall be available to the entire nation, not just 75% as it was before. With government loans and free accommodation, this shall usher in a increase in productivity in the Aotearoan economy.

Internet. Although internet connections are free and already at a high speed, demand on the national information grid has caused calls for an upgrade of the national 5Gbps grid to a much faster 50 Gbps cable grid. This is achieved with collective caching, and other smarter ways of distributing information.

An upgrade to the national high speed train network into a national maglev train system. This will allow people and freight to move quicker and more efficently throughout the nation.

A Scientific Development Centre. A large government subsidised laboratory, for the advancement of the nation. This shall be used to perfect new technologies for consumer or military release.

Joint Forces Headquarters . With our new military, we need a join headquarters, so that operations can be planned quickly and with minimal cross force discussion.

State Pension System. With a small increase in taxes, people unable to work shall be paid a small payment to boost private savings, and allow the elderly to keep the high living standard they enjoyed while working.

Equities Trading Centre.. With the booming number of private corporations, a formal stock exchange has been set up, allowing business to trade, however, laws restricting the amount of money able to be made are in place to stop bad deals that will cripple the economy.

Facility for the Defense from Ballistic and Orbital Weapons.. A series of missile and laser sites over the country, this will give high levels of protection from the increasingly used nuclear weapons seen in the world today. It consists of EMP hardened, Ionising lasers and electricity generation sites as a first line of defense. The lasers ionise twin paths through the air, allowing current to flow at a much lower resistance, and the laser needs only a fraction of the power used to shoot down the missile itself. This pathway of ionised air then has a massive current sent down it, so it simulates a lighting strike across the skin of the target. This attack occurs instantly, and needs no time to burn through the casing, as conventional laser interception does. This means it can also be used as a anti aircraft gun, with 100% accuracy, and a very high kill rate. After this method comes intercepter SAMs, with a 600km range, based on our standard missiles, but reconfigured for the kind of speeds needed in this application. Finally are ground based pulsed chemical lasers.

Accident Compensation Commission.. This commission offers compulsory state funded medical insurance on a no fault basis, allowing every Aotearoan citizen access to top level health care.

Laboratory for the Development of New Combat Technologies . This large, military funded research centre develops and refines combat technologies constantly, leading to a more efficient and deadly Aotearoan army, airforce and navy, at the expense of a small increase in production costs.

Economy.

The economy of Glorious Aotearoa stems from open market policies with underlying stabilization provided by government monopolies on major sectors of commerce. This is done by almost totally deregulated free trade and economic action for most businesses, while State Owned Enterprises run crucial aspects of the economy and nation.

Free market policies are slightly tempered by internal protection laws, such as a slight amount of forced preference to internal business, and external protection such as forbidding ownership of Aotearoan companies by overseas holdings. Together this leads to a highly productive and innovative market sector, with large amounts of competition in most aspects, but the capitalist 'boom-bust' cycle is dampened to a degree that is has little negative effect on peoples lives which slight recessionary time occur.

Major private companies:

Air Aotearoa; The largest airline company in Aotearoa, it is in fierce competition with its' close rival, Zepher Pacific. Both of these have standard low cost, mass transport subsonic jets, however Air Aotearoa has hypervelocity sub orbital civilian scramjets allowing it a upper hand, and tipping factor with its larger market share in the higher price, higher speed, luxury travel sub market, where long distance travel across Aotearoa is not an option for high paid executives.

Sat-tel Communications Group; An aggressive market competitor, this company has been making massive inroads to the civilian and military communications providing high speed, secure networks with internal and external security against everything from hobby hackers, to extreme weather, to govt sponsored cyber attacks. These people were the ones responsible for the latest upgrade to BattleNet, allowing even faster communications in the field

State Owned Enterprises (SOE's) are for profit companies which are more restricted in their trading practices, however hold a monopoly over their market sector, so this only goes to stop predatory capitalism occurring. They generally serve government contracts, and work on major infrastructure, transport or power.

Major State Owned Enterprises:

Aotearoa Railways Corporation (ARC); These are the land transport specialists. A group of sub companies, they operate all aspects of rail, be it single person monorails in cities, right on up to and through to the intercity passenger and freight maglev trains.

Glorious Aotearoa Integrated Shipping; The counterpart to ARC, this SOE focuses on high capacity high quality shipping production, mostly geared towards freight transport, for the massive daily redistribution of millions of tonnes of products from source to destination all over the pacific. They operate a small fraction of the ships they make as lease transports, however, they are primarily set towards manufacture and sales of ships.

Pacific Munitions; This one and only defense contractor used by the GAA, GAAF, and GAN. This company is the sole manufacturer of all arms, armour and munitions used by the Aotearoan military. This leads to easier procurement, inter-force standardization and enables eased transit between various levels of production.

Many other examples of each occur, but are mostly segregated into two groups. Industrial, which is secondary sector processing or manufacturing, which accounts for approximately 25% of the nations infrastructure while Commercial accounts for another 30%. Primary sector commerce is usually less infrastructure intensive, but still makes up 40% of Glorious Aotearoa's GDP, with major companies including
Troll Mines; a company which uses sea floor and seawater mining to produce large volumes of iron ore, aluminum ore and other minerals with little to no impact.
Confederated Farmers; A group of farmers who either work aquacultural farms or agricultural ones, and generate large volumes of food stock each year, mainly in the meat, fish and aqua flora categories to feed the large population of this nation.

Defences.

Radar stations, satellites and utilities.

Glorious Aotearoa maintains a large SIGINT network, that can intercept Satelite, microwave, radar, radio, burst transmission, through air communications. Backed up by arrays of supercomputers, this facility boasts one of the most developed sigint networks in the world.

Glorious Aotearoa has 5 main types of wide area surveillance.
1. Satellite imagery. This is done with high resolution radar-micro-optical cameras, based on HEO satellites. Half of these satellites have large dwell times over main parts of the large Aotearoan pacific, so that they can provide broad coverage of the area with a resolution of 3m, while the other half have their apogee set to their low altitude fast sweep takes them around the borders of Glorious Aotearoa, providing high detail imaging of the sea, down two a 0.45m resolution. Onboard all of these satellites are processors with constantly updated image recognition software for analysis of all ships in each shot. If any are deemed to be recognized to be on a watch list, an immediate message is sent off, instead of the hourly burst transmissions of data collected. Due to the nature of the orbits and number of satellites, broad coverage provides constant vision at all Aotearoan territories, while low levle flyboy provides hourly views of a section of the earth on or near Aotearoan borders and 300km wide.

2. OTH-B ground based radar (OOC: Based on J-OTHR. A series of paired transmitters and receivers, which provide double redundant coverage of all of Glorious Aotearoan lands and waters. It has an official range of 3,000 km but depending upon certain atmospheric conditions has a range up to and including 4500km. Due to highly advanced signal processing and electronics, it uses less power than most comparable systems, and due to its nature of operation, (low frequency [5-30Mhz] top aspect incidence) it has high success against most 'stealth' aircraft, as they are optimized for high frequency front aspect RCS reduction. Trials have shown even light civilian planes (with their near transparency to radar) such as a cessna are able to be detected on take off and landing at ranges of over 2500km.

3. OTH-SW ground based radar. A radar which uses lower frequencies than the OTH-B system to send radar waves diffracting around the surface of the earth, for long range (1500km+) detection of planes and ships.

4. Airborne OTH-SW and OTH-B radars. Simply smaller versions of the above systems that provide AEW radar coverage. These radars, although shorter ranged have higher diffraction limits, enabling high detail targeting of targets, enough that long range missiles can be used with accuracy.

5. Short range microwave radars, in non active bunkers on islands during peace. During war, they are used to 'paint' targets that have been detected by the longer ranged but less precise radars, enabling very long ranging targeting of enemies.

All these radars have DRFM jamming abilites, which due to doppler shifts in the broadcast signal have near invulnerability to ARM weapons, as the signal they would track in on is providing false targeting data.

Sea and seashore defenses.

There is a large, deep and layered set of defenses.

Layer 1: Open sea floor defense points. These exist out to 200 nautical miles from the coast, ie: the limit of the EEZ

These are laid out in a triangle grid with 50km between points. The points have 5 main components. Three weapons modules, a command relay system, and a radar / sonar array.

Torpedo Tubes: There are 12 tubes on each installation, with over 60 torpedoes in stock and an automated reload system. A mix of supercav, direct impact and slower, stealthier conventional torpedoes all with a range of 50km, and warheads designed for dual charge penetration / waterjet creation. With their range, between three and four sets of tubes can engage a single surface or submerged enemy.
Missile Cells: These contain a mix of anti ship and anti air missiles. They have ranges of about 350km and 250km respectively. They have warheads adapted for their specific targets, and are able to be independently targeted, or flown remotely.
Shaped charge mine canisters: These are canisters holding thousands of small mines. Each mine has 2kg of highexplosive, powerful Neodymium magnets magnets at each corner of the tetrahedral case, and a pressure sensor and small RF set. The mines are armed upon release, and activate upon contact with a ship, sticking to it, and arming the charge, as well as sending out a RF signal informing other bomblets it is armed. When a bomblet is armed and picks up more a a certain number of armed signals, it ignites, blasting a hole roughly 30cm diameter, and up to 1.5 meters deep through the hull of the ship. As it does this all the other mines on that ship will also go off and so there will be at least 40 20cm holes created at the same time.

Command Relay System: A set of redundant, EMP hardened sea floor cables, these use burst transmissions to share targeting data with the entire net work, and allow targets to be engaged at the highest efficiency. Also reports loss of point, and needing more ammo.
Radar / sonar array: A phased Radar coupled with a dual active / passive sonar sensor leads to good detection of sub surface and surface targets, and good to moderate detection of aerial ones. Fortunately Therimiograph data is constantly transmitted to all points, providing excellent aerial targeting information.

Layer 2: Territorial Water systems.

As above, but in a 5km sided triangle grid extending 12 nautical miles out form the coast, and full automation constantly active.

Layer 3: Seashore defenses.

Czech Hedgehogs and Dragons teeth tank traps with anti engineer weaponry are on every beach. Ones suitable for invasion are equipped with bunkers and kill zones. Sand dunes are created to provide elevated fire points, while rocky sand bars force landing craft to disengage troops further out, as they are unable to pass these obstacles.
A strong net work of bunkers and trenches (including Automated Guns) is always maintained, and with advanced warning, a high speed troop transport system can move divisional size contingents to almost any point in less than 5 hours.
Self propelled and fixed tube artillery is put in hardened secure bunkers, with machine gun nests hidden well along the advance routes.
The troops have orders to conduct mobile warfare, leaving positions when untenable, allowing the full force of the army, navy and airforce to crush the logistics of these invaders, then kill their ill supplied troops.

Sound Surveillance System

Starting a simple defense measure of a few monitoring stations, this system was expanded through the new waters, and so it now covers all the Glorious Aotearoan waters with extra sensors outside it and intermediate ocean.
